A letter from The Great Falls and Harpers Ferry...

Bette Lou just sent an e-mail and pictures from her most recent adventure:

Hi, Belinda!

Just got back from Harper's Ferry and Maryland and I suppose you already heard from Mike the Moose that we ran into him at a concert he was doing by The Great Falls. YES! The same Great Falls of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal that I sent you the letter from a couple of years ago when I had to channel Grandma Gatewood to complete my hike in the 90 degree weather! I'm sorry to say, the weather was barely any better, BUT this time, my friend Tina and I parked near the falls and had a relatively easy walk to the falls PLUS we got hear Mike the Moose sing and visit with him a bit.

I told him that we had just come from Harper's Ferry where we visited with Laurie Potteiger of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy and a donor for our Grandma Gatewood project. She was a treat tour guide and we really enjoyed Harpers Ferry.

Of course, you know that the AT goes through the town AND over the Potomac footbridge. I hiked over the river to the spot where the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal meets the AT. It was great! I think it brings my AT miles up to about 3 miles (over the last few years - talk about a section hike! Ha! Ha!)

Anyway, I'm sending in you a few pictures from the trip and Mike the Moose says to tell you he'll be home soon (which he probably told you already!).
