New York Spaghetti House 1994

Mario and Maria Brigotti opened the New York Spaghetti House at 2173 E. 9th Street in 1927 and it became the longest running family operated restaurant in Cleveland. Big bowls of spaghetti covered with the Spaghetti House's signature "brown sauce" was a specialty.

The building was built in 1870 as the parsonage of Zion Lutheran Church. A vaudeville theatre bought church in the early 1900s to house its actors in the parsonage. It was torn down in 2015

Memories:

Marian Macbeth from E. Lansing MI (former Ohio resident) wrote: "Our go to before going to the Palace or Severance Hall was the Spaghetti House on E. 9th. My favorite was the pesto sauce on angel hair pasta & a caprese salad. Loved the maitre d. He was so elegant." (August 10, 2018)

Jim Higgins wrote: "They had great spaghetti, my wife and I went there shortly after our wedding We were seated on the main floor and shortly after being served the waiter came over and politely said to my wife "we do not cut our spaghetti here", to which my wife responded, 'I'm from Baltimore and we cut our spaghetti'."
