Hiker and Blogger, Diane Spicer

Although I never met her, and have never put my muddy hiking boots on her famous long trails, I hike with Grandma Gatewood in my heart. She became a role model for me in 1970, back in the days when female hikers on grand adventures were as rare as unicorns. With her determination, willingness to learn from her mistakes, and "can do" spirit, she vividly demonstrated how to answer the call of the trail. And I'm still answering it, 47 years later.
