Western Reserve, then returns to Connecticut.

Samuel Livingston Mather (1817-1890, grandson of Samuel) arrives in
Cleveland to oversee grandfather's land.
1849:
Samuel L. Mather becomes shareholder in Cleveland Mining Company,
mining iron ore on the Marquette Range, 12 miles SW of Marquette,
MI.

William G. Mather receives BA from Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut.

completes merger negotiations with the Marquette Range and Iron Cliffs
to form Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Company.

Gwinn mansion.

1929: William G. Mather marries Elizabeth Ring Ireland, age
38; Mr. Mather was 71.

Mr. Mather resigns as president and becomes Chairman of the Board
of Cleveland-Cliffs.
1947:
William G. Mather resigns as chairman.
1951:
William G. Mather dies on April 5 at the age of 93.
