Some
definitions and thoughts on Museum Interpretation
…is an information service
…a guiding service
…an educational service
…an entertainment service
…a propaganda service
…an inspirational service
…aims
at giving people new understanding, new insights, new enthusiasm, new
interests.
A
good interpreter is sort of a Pied Piper, leading people easily into
new and fascinating worlds that their senses never really penetrated
before.
A
good interpreter possesses the following: knowledge, enthusiasm, and
a bit of the common touch.
Museum
interpretation is object associated; the object is related to a cultural,
historical, or personal reference, creating and enlarging the context
of the object.
An
Interpreter provides the means of a relationship between the visitor
and the artifact/exhibit/museum.
