Jean Deeds takes Katahdin!

Grandma Gatewood was one amazing woman! She is a role model for all of us, whether we're hikers or have different kinds of challenges in our lives. I have shared Grandma Gatewood's Walk with many friends, and my copy is always in someone's hands. My trek on the AT seemed like a piece of cake -- with my backpack, tent, sleeping bag, fleece and Gore tex jacket -- compared to hers. I think her story should be required reading for all teenage girls. Grandma Gatewood inspires me to always stretch my limits and never give up.
